![]() Though there's also contradictions as early as Halo 2, which showed that Forerunners had six fingers, a feature kept as late as Halo 4. Then after 343 takes over the lore, the Mantle is retconned to an abstract “galactic duty / authority that one species passes down to another” and not the “humans inheriting the same role in the galaxy that they held before the halo array fired.” This is why humans can activate/interact with forerunner tech, they are biologically the same. Then after Guilty Spark murders Johnson in Halo 3 he straight up looks at chief and reveals “you are forerunner.” The levels on Delta halo resemble ancient Mesoamerican / Mayan / Aztec type ruins, implying the civilization that used to live there were human. The forerunner structures in Halo 2 are starkly different from 343’s take. He also remarks “last time you asked me to go through with this…” to chief during CE’s twist/reveal at the end of The Library. This happens during a cutscene in The Maw during CE. ![]() ![]() Guilty Spark describes human history as a “lost records” of forerunner history once he scans the Autumn’s database. Pre-historic humans built the halo array and all the forerunner infrastructure you see through the games. Throughout the main trilogy there’s a bunch of tells that humans and forerunners are the same species. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy others are having fun, but there's maybe 1 game a year I find interesting enough to play by myself. Then, when I tell them I just play the campaign, they look at me like I'm some kind of leper. Like, I can't count the number of times someone's asked me if I play a game, and when I say yes, they automatically think I mean online multi-player. Every game has some multi-player, and people are shocked when I tell them I play a game but not multi-player. The longer I go, the less the gaming world is for me. I got married and have a job, too, but I'm the only one who still plays games for any significant amount of time. They've all moved on to families, careers, and marriages. Most of the time, the campaign sits and rots the same thing as it was from day one, while the multi-player is getting new maps, cosmetics, features, and all sorts of other content. I have no issues if a game wants to balance multi-player and single-player, but they don't do that anymore. No one gives a shit about people who enjoy single-player games anymore. I haven't played Forbidden West yet because I play on PC, but the industry has left people like me in the dust. The only game I've come across recently that doesn't have multi-player is Horizon: Zero Dawn. I have absolutely zero interest in multi-player. I'm not very good at competitive FPS', hell, I enjoy playing on easy most of the time. I have dabbled in the multi-player before, but I never consistently played it. It's literally the only reason I play Halo games. There were some other minor retcons that have been mostly accepted happily by the fan base.įor some crazy reason though, they also just CTRL+F all years referenced and subtracted ~10 years and called it good, which doesn't really make much sense but that's the way it goes, I guess. New version of Fall of Reach removed that line. In the original version of Fall of Reach (with an older cover, Original Xbox black and green logo, and the tagline of being a prequel to the game), released in 2001, it states in a minor (practically throwaway) sentence that humanity did not ever engage with the Sanghieli/Elites until the actual battle of Reach, which was obviously reconned in several books released afterward. Around the time of Halo 4, when 343 took over, they reissued Fall of Reach, the Flood, and First Strike with new covers and some minor new content - they also "fixed" continuity errors. You likely have one of the newer editions. Spoiler Warning For more Halo information visit: Self-promotion is to be done in an infrequent and quality mannerĬheck out the /r/halo discord!
